I’m creating this donation page for my sister, Johnetta “Jay B” Jackson, who is courageously battling end-stage liver failure. At just 37 years young, she has already endured a journey that most could never imagine — but her strength, her spirit, and her will to live have never wavered.

Her Medical Journey So Far

In January, Johnetta was admitted to Froedtert Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with cirrhosis of the liver. Her condition required painful procedures to drain fluid from her abdomen, and she was sent home under outpatient care.

But in May, things took a drastic turn. Johnetta was found unconscious and rushed to the ER. She had to be resuscitated and placed on life support. After days of sedation, she miraculously woke up and remained in the hospital for two weeks.

Just three days after her discharge, she collapsed again — this time in a grocery store. She was rushed back to the hospital and once again placed on life support. Doctors diagnosed her with end-stage liver failure and performed a TIPS procedure to insert a stent in her liver — a temporary bridge until she can receive a life-saving transplant.

‍‍ More Than a Patient – A Mother, Daughter, and Hero

Johnetta is the heart of our family. After our grandmother passed away, she became the glue that helps hold us all together. She is the devoted mother of a sweet 7-year-old son, who calls her his hero, and the primary caregiver for her mother, who relies on her every day.

She is full of life, laughter, and love — and she deserves a chance to keep living the life she so deeply cherishes.

Why We’re Asking for Help

While Johnetta is stable for now, the reality is clear: a new liver is her only hope. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the full cost of the liver transplant and the extensive aftercare she will need.

• Liver transplant and surgical costs

• Travel to and from the transplant center

• Ongoing recovery and rehabilitation care
