Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for help to save my sweet boy, Jedi.
On Friday night, when I came home from work, something felt wrong immediately. Jedi didn’t come running for dinner like he always does. When I picked him up, I noticed his stomach felt hard, and he was in visible pain. My heart sank because I knew this wasn’t normal.
Jedi has a history of urinary blockages, but he’s been on medication and a strict prescription diet to help prevent this from happening again. Even so, when I checked on him closer, I saw blood coming from his urethra. Without hesitation, I rushed him to the ER vet.
While explaining his symptoms to the staff, instead of compassion, we (Lyndsay, my partner, and I) were met with laughter simply because I mentioned we were on a budget. It was humiliating and heartbreaking, because all I wanted was to save my baby. Despite this, they confirmed my fears — Jedi was blocked and needed an emergency procedure. His bladder was flushed, but he is still struggling to urinate and is straining. This condition is extremely serious and can be fatal if he blocks again.
The vets told me that he may need to be hospitalized again, and if the blockages keep happening, he will likely need surgery to enlarge his urethra (PU surgery). The thought of losing him because of finances is devastating to us. He’s not “just a cat” — he’s family, he’s our best friend, and he’s only alive right now because we got him to the vet in time.
I love Jedi dearly and I will do everything I can to fight for him. But right now, we simply cannot afford the level of care he needs on our own. That’s why I am asking for help.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Jedi’s emergency care, hospitalization, and possible surgery to give him the chance to live a healthy, happy life. I can provide vet documentation as proof of his condition and treatment.
If you are unable to donate, even just sharing this with others would mean the world to us. Time is critical — I don’t know how long Jedi has before his condition worsens, and I’m praying this community can help us fight for him.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading Jedi’s story, and for any support you can give.
