Donate to Save Jaweed and His Family

As many of you probably know, I have been trying to get an Afghan family to safety after the fall of Afghanistan 3 years ago. In 2022 I ran a gofundme that allowed us to get the money together to move all 7 of them to Pakistan where the threat of Taliban retribution wasn't present.

Today the family is living in hiding in Pakistan due to their visas expiring. If they get found, they will be sent back to Afghanistan, and likely killed. We have managed to get them registered as refugees with the UNHRC, but the process for getting them moved somewhere safe is incredibly slow and may take several more years.

Today we have an opportunity to potentially get them moved to safety in Canada, but it's not an easy process.

This fundraiser is specifically to get one of their sons, Jaweed, to Tajikistan, where he can get moved to Canada under a special refugee program that's unavailable for people in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

This process involves receiving a Tajik visa, getting the Canadian Visa, and traveling to Tajikistan, living expenses for several months while the Canadian visa is approved, and ultimately travel funds to Canada.

Once he's there he can apply to have the whole family brought over straight from Pakistan.

This is the most promising move forward after dozens of false starts and dead ends for this family. I can express how stressful and traumatizing this whole thing has been for them, and how ashamed I am that our government left them and thousands of other Afghans who worked with us during the GWOT.
