Hi, we're Eleanor and Scott. We foster cats to give them a chance to find a forever home, working with a rescue organisation that saves cats from kill shelters.

In July, we were paired with two kittens, Daphne and Diamond. They were four months old and FELV positive (feline leukemia). This is a severely life-limiting virus for kittens and 85% do not make it past their first year. We worked hard to research what this diagnosis meant and give our girls a calm and supportive home.

Devastatingly, after three weeks Diamond was diagnosed with lymphoma and the vet said there was nothing else that could be done for her.

Daphne continued without her sister and continued to fend off the worst of the virus. Until a couple of weeks ago, when her abdomen filled with fluid and she became uncharacteristically lethargic. Daphne was diagnosed with a second illness: FIP. This is a type of feline coronavirus. The vet once again suggested euthanasia would be the best course of action, as the rescue organisation confirmed they could not cover the cost of additional treatment.

But we are determined to give Daphne the best chance of survival. We took her to another vet for a second opinion and have started her on a course of very new drugs. So far, the results have been amazing. Daphne the kitten is back.

These drugs are expensive and we are funding them as a donation to the rescue organisation we work with. Please consider a donation to help continue Daphne's recovery.

We are fundraising only for the cost of the FIP drugs. She also needs to be treated for a severe underbite which results in snapped teeth and painful ulcers. We will cover all vet bills, supplements, secondary drugs (such as steroids, antibiotics and anti-sickness medication), the usual costs of cat ownership and lots of toys.

We hope one day to put Daphne up for adoption and find her forever home. For now, we are her stewards.
