Hello, I'm Nick, and this is for my little buddy Chewie. He is a Tri-Color Pembroke Welsh Corgi and will be 5 years old in December. He just had surgery and is recovering at a rehab working on regaining use of his hind legs and bladder control.

On the evening of Thursday the 10th, Chewie ran up his stairs onto the bed and slipped. He fell and hit the side of the wooden stairs and fell around 1.5'. He was whining in pain, panting, and shaking. I took him to the Animal Emergency Center of the Quad Cities, and that night he was looking alright. He could still use his hind legs and stand on them for short periods, but the X-rays revealed calcification of the disks on L2/3, L3/4, L4/5, and it's looking like he has Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). We were hoping with rest for a few weeks he would recover. Over the weekend, he lost use of his back legs, and on Sunday night or Monday morning, he lost control of his bladder. I took him to my normal vet, Risius, and they examined him. He had no proprioception in his hind legs. He still was feeling superficial pain and deep pain on the right side, but only deep pain on the left. With this information, I was advised that if possible, he should receive surgery as soon as possible. The estimate we were given by the hospital for surgery was $6000-8000.

So Tuesday the 15th my grandmother and I headed out at 4:30 AM for the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital in Ames, IA. I was lucky that my grandmother was able to lend me the money for the initial deposit of $6000 as I did not have any savings or available credit. I'll be putting whatever is raised here towards any additional costs over $6000, if it all stays within that initial deposit we put down I will use the money to pay her back and work on paying her the difference over the next few months.

If we somehow get more donations than needed I will donate the excess to the local animal shelters. I'll split it between the Humane Society of Scott County, King's Harvest Pet Rescue, Rescued, QC Paws, and maybe some additional local shelters/rescues.

Since I was able to borrow the money to get the surgery the need is now not as dire, but if you want to help out so I don't have as much debt anything would help, but please do not feel obligated to donate.

If you would prefer to use Venmo or Cashapp my info is below:

If giving makes you uncomfortable because I'm a random person you may not know but you would still like to donate, you can call the Hixson-Lied Small Animal Hospital in Ames, IA at 515 . 294 . 4900 and ask to pay on/make a donation towards Chewie on Nick Seemann's account.

Please note that Venmo, CashApp, and direct donations to the hospital are not covered under the "GoFundMe Giving Guarantee" but I am trying to be as transparent as possible. I've attached the first bill with the deposit to the updates and will attach any future ones as well so you know where your money is going.

Here is a picture they sent me 10/18 with him looking absolutely adorable and super cool with his goggles on for laser therapy.
