2lb Yorkie Attacked; Fighting For His Life In The ICU

Deizel, the 2-pound Yorkie, needs our help. He is fighting for his life in the ICU at Mississippi State University Animal Emergency Health Center. He was attacked by 2 dogs 90 times his size. He has multiple broken bones in his cheeks, mouth, and skull, contusions on his lungs, fluid in his lungs; he is in a ventilator kennel providing him with oxygen, he is on over 10 medications, he is not eating, and he has lost an eye and is fighting to save the other eye.:TLDR

The Attack

Deizel is a 2.2 pound Yorkie who was attacked by 2 massive dogs. A 100+ pound Cane Corso mix and an 80+ pound Pit mix violently pulled Deizel by his skull out of his own backyard through a fence. When he was ambushed he was smart enough to limp under a shed until we could get to him

Our hearts and stomachs dropped hearing Deizel scream and bark for help. In our frantic attempt to rescue Deizel, my husband was bitten by one dog. The other dog, covered in Deizel's blood, lunged at me, stopped only by his owner's tenuous hold on his collar and her shouted words, "You can't be here—he will BITE." It is simply a miracle and an absolute testament to Deizel's bravery that he withstood the initial brutal attack.

Deizel's usually well-groomed fur was a matted bright red with quickly clotting blood. His beautiful bright eyes were covered in blood. One eye even appeared to be on the verge of popping out. His tiny fragile body wheezed and shook with extreme effort with every breath. He no longer responded to any visual or auditory cues.

We immediately took him to the vet who stabilized him. She informed us that he needed to get specialized intensive care. We left the vet and straightaway drove the almost 3 hours to Mississippi State University Animal Emergency Health Center. They were waiting for him and rushed him to the back.

In one moment my husband and I were mourning the loss of our beloved Munky, walking with Deizel and his sister Sox in the safety of their own backyard. The next moment our world was shattered. This brutal attack has not only left us drowning in financial burden but has torn open fresh wounds of grief, leaving us devastated, heartbroken, and struggling to comprehend the cruelty of it all.

Now, as our strong little guy is fighting for his life with every breath, we are trying to pay for his care. Thus far, his bill is up to $9,250 and counting. This bill is on top of the 2 major vet bills we have from Munky's (Deizel's big sister) recent surgery, cancer battle, and passing less than 5 months ago.
