Help Save Biscuit: Emergency Surgery for Septic Abdomen & Intestinal Perforation
Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during one of the most devastating and unexpected times of my life. My sweet 3-year-old mini Goldendoodle, Biscuit, recently went through a life-threatening medical emergency that required intensive care, emergency surgery, and a long road to recovery.
What Happened:
On June 29th, Biscuit suddenly became violently ill after ingesting a beef rib bone. Within hours, he began vomiting, had uncontrollable diarrhea, and showed signs of extreme pain and lethargy. I rushed him to the emergency vet where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with septic abdomen and intestinal perforations — both life-threatening conditions.
He required emergency surgery to remove multiple sections of his intestines and repair the damage. The surgeons described the situation as critical, and he remained in the ICU for five days under 24/7 care with a feeding tube, IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain management. He fought through high fevers, systemic infection, and extreme discomfort — but Biscuit is a fighter, and he made it home.
Why I Need Help:
Biscuit’s hospitalization and surgery came with a staggering cost. Despite having pet insurance, the upfront medical expenses totaled over $20,000 across multiple hospitals. Unfortunately, insurance only reimburses after claims are processed, and I’ve had to cover everything out-of-pocket using credit cards and emergency funds. I’m now facing thousands of dollars in debt — a crushing financial burden I never anticipated.
As someone currently in school, married to an active-duty military service member, and managing day-to-day life on a limited income, this situation has become overwhelming both emotionally and financially.
Why It Matters:
Biscuit isn’t “just a pet” — he’s my companion, emotional support, and constant light through every difficult moment. Anyone who knows him knows he is the gentlest, happiest little soul who greets every person with a wagging tail and warm heart. The thought of losing him was unbearable — but I knew I had to do everything in my power to save his life.
How You Can Help:
I’m humbly asking for any assistance — whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this page — to help me cover the cost of Biscuit’s life-saving care and support his ongoing recovery. Every donation will go directly toward paying the veterinary hospitals that helped save his life and the medications and care he still needs during his recovery.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me give Biscuit a second chance at life.
With love and gratitude,
Sarah Valles.
