Hello! We are Bark Avenue Pet Resort. We are a doggy daycare and boarding facility in Smyrna, Georgia. Along with caring for our sweet daycare and boarding dogs, we have been lucky enough to open our doors for rescue dogs in need. We have worked closely with rescue organizations to pull dogs from treacherous conditions and connect them with fur-ever families!

Last week, we brought in a senior Cane Corso who was left in a backyard for the last few months with no one to care for him. We are calling this sweet boy “Bert”. Bert has been severely malnourished and is on a regimen to gain 30 pounds to get him at a healthy weight so he can thrive! Unfortunately, the vet has confirmed that Bert is positive for heartworm disease. The good news is that this disease is treatable! The treatment is very extensive and, as you can imagine, expensive. We are getting him treated and healthy to give him the opportunity to find a loving home for his final years!

Four days after brining in Bert, our morning crew came in to a devastating sight. After we closed down on Sunday night, someone tied their young Mastiff to the pole outside of our facility. Left trapped in a prong collar with canned food dumped on the ground beyond his reach, this sweet boy was petrified when we found him early Monday morning. We are calling him “Adonis”. We have only had Adonis for a day, but it is clear that he is incredibly weary of the male members of our team. Although he looks to be healthy, we will, of course, be getting him into our vet to get checked out and caught up on his vaccinations.

Including Bert and Adonis, we currently have four rescues at our facility. We have happily funded all medical expenses for current and previous rescues. We are not a funded rescue organization - we are just a small business who loves dogs and will always help those in need to the best of our ability. Being a small business, these expenses can be overwhelming. We are reaching out to the community to ask for any help you may be able to provide to help us continue this journey.
