We are the parents of a daughter, who has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre’ syndrome, also referred to as AIDP. It’s a rare and serious autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. This leads to muscle weakness and can lead to paralysis. In Allison’s case, she has become completely disabled. She has difficulty speaking, swallowing, and now breathing. She can’t use her hands or feet. She was hospitalized and receiving treatment. Due to no insurance because she can no longer work or take care of herself, she was sent home. She has progressively gotten worse in the last week. She can’t talk, walk, move on her own, and has now lost use of her lower extremities and is in adult diapers. She turns only 36 this month. If we can get the funds to get her the care she needs, she may be able to recover. Otherwise, she will not be able to beat this condition. It requires a facility that is $3000.00 monthly. We don’t have the means to support that. She needs round-the-clock care at this point. Treatments of IVIg and plasmapheresis are crucial, and if she can get through that, then extensive physical rehabilitation to try and walk and use her hands again. It will be a long road, but it’s possible to recover. We need help to get her the care she needs. It’s not easy to watch our daughter wasting away due to the healthcare system demanding payment to render care. We will lose our daughter if she doesn’t get the care she needs immediately. If you can donate, thank you. If you don’t have the means to donate, please pray for her and us as we navigate this heartbreaking situation. If you would please share this with anyone and everyone. We will definitely need more than the amount we are starting with, but it’s a start to try and get her the life-saving treatment she needs. Now, she’s in a hospital in Texas. She was severely neglected at the last facility. Came into the hospital with acute renal failure, severe dehydration, malnourished, and the VRE was out of control. The neurologist here says due to the neglect, she is now considered to have chronic AIPD. She is being treated with IVIG, again. It’s a wait and see as they have ordered numerous tests, including MRI of the brain and thoracic area, plus other parts of her body. She now weighs 89 pounds. They are giving her Dextrose because her sugar keeps dropping. We have to get her closer to us in NC, where she can be placed in a reputable facility that I can monitor. We are asking to please share this with everyone. We will not leave her side.We want our baby well and with us. Please pray for us and especially Allison, who has already been through more than you can imagine. Unfortunately, the guy she has been with decided he wasn’t willing to take care of her. So, her life took a drastic turn very quickly. Long road ahead for us all, but especially our Alli girl! Any help is much appreciated. It isn’t easy even asking or sharing such personal information but it’s our only avenue right now.
