I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my dear friend, Akash Bhandari, who is bravely fighting a life-threatening health condition.

In 2015, Akash came to the United States on a full scholarship to attend a private college, full of dreams and aspirations. Over the years, he’s not only worked incredibly hard to build a bright future, but he’s also become a beloved friend to many of us. Now, Akash is facing one of the biggest challenges of his life, and he urgently needs our support.

Two years ago, Akash was diagnosed with benign lipomas—non-cancerous growths that seemed manageable at first. However, over the past few months, his symptoms have worsened significantly. He now faces persistent neck pain, difficulty swallowing, and the unnerving sensation of a lump in his throat. These symptoms have taken a serious toll on his daily life and overall well-being.

Last week, the situation took a frightening turn when Akash fainted while attempting to eat. This alarming moment left him and his loved ones deeply shaken. After consulting a specialist and doing an endoscopy biopsy last month, it was revealed that his benign tumor may have evolved into a potentially cancerous condition known as laryngeal papilloma, with early signs of malignancy (Stage 1 cancer).

The Fight Ahead:

Akash urgently needs a series of diagnostic tests to confirm the nature of his condition and determine the best course of treatment. Early intervention is crucial, as Stage 1 malignancies are often treatable if caught in time. But the clock is ticking.

The financial burden of his medical care—specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, potential treatments, and follow-up care—is overwhelming. Doctors have estimated that the total cost of his treatment could exceed $40,000. Unfortunately, Akash is without comprehensive health insurance and has no option but to turn to his community for support.
