I've added some pictures of Apryl in happier days. Currently, she is facing an uphill battle with a myriad of health issues that have caused her to reach a brick wall. Have you ever reached the point where after trying all options, you've reached that same brick wall? Well, this woman, a cancer survivor. She contracted Hodgins Lymphoma in 1986. So you will understand just how resilient she's had to be, I am sharing that story with you. She had just given birth to her son when she was rushed to the hospital in Miami, FL. Her pregnancy had not been easy and the doctors had misdiagnosed her continuing weight lose and lethargy. I was at work sitting at my desk when the phone rang and the doctors at the Miami Dade Hospital told me they had discovered she had a massive tumor consuming her entire chest cavity, water in her lungs, etc. He said she was too far gone and there wasn't anything they could do. Further he said I should come and get her because they needed the space. True story verbatim. As soon as I hung up with him and stifling my shock, I called my church to place her on the prayer chain and called all of my friends who were believers and asked them to begin praying as well. I realize there may be skeptics out there, but I am only relaying this as accurately as I can because I was there and I witnessed every detail of her recovery. People from all over South Florida began praying; she had all kinds of people coming to visit her; sending flowers and stuffed animals, etc. She did an about-face in two weeks time and they began chemo and radiation to treat her symptoms. She had a birthday while in the hospital and there was a line from her room down the floors and outside the hospital. When we left the hospital the doctors called us in to the conference room and stated "We have no medical explanation for her recovery. Holding the file folders, they said, 'Further, these are the records of a dead woman and we can only attribute her ability to withstand the treatments to DIVINE INTERVENTION. They also commented that anyone in her condition would not have been able to go through nine months to bring a healthy son into the world. They were amazed that he was born without defect and whole. They were not Christians so it was amazing that they recognized that God did save her and He saved her for a reason. So, Apryl eventually recovered enough to go to work, went through a divorce and managed to raise three children essentially on her own. And now is a grandmother facing bankruptcy and losing the little she has been able to hang on to.
As the years progressed, serious health issues began to arise as residual effects from the chemo and radiation she under went because of Hodgins Lymphoma. She had double bypass surgery in 2001, a thyroidectomy in 2001, and another in 2004. Multiple shoulder surgeries and finally a reverse shoulder replacement in 2022. Her scoliosis causes constant pain and restriction along with a damaged lower lumbar caused by a patient falling on her which she worked at a nursing home. She has asthma and breathing problems, and now is facing another high-risk open heart surgery.
She had been employed part-time (due to her disabilities - scoliosis, asthma, etc.) for about 7+ years for a Palm Coast business. Unfortunately, the business was sold. The new owners made some changes. One of which included placing a scent into the air conditioning ducts which caused her to have a severe asthma attack. So severe that she ended up in the hospital for three days. Because of this air conditioning situation, she was not able to return to that business. Thus, she lost her job.
Currently, unable to pay rent, she is homeless and staying with friends temporarily. So, now she's lost her job, is without a home, and going to lose her car and her belongings in storage because she cannot afford the payments. She has many expensive medications (some that insurance will not cover) that she must take and no money to do that. She needs some help desperately. If you can find it in your heart to make a small donation (any amount, no matter how small will be appreciated) to help her get on her feet again. She is scheduled for her high-risk heart surgery in April and she will have no money at all for anything because she will be in recovery for some time (4-6 weeks) before she can find work again. Thank you for listening. God bless you.
