A Mother’s Plea: My Daughter Was Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer the Day She Gave Birth

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, and so I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My daughter, Sascha, who is celebrating her 31st birthday today, learned on the very same day she welcomed her beautiful rainbow baby girl into this world, the most devastating news imaginable - she has stage 4 metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. No mother should ever expect to see her child face something like this, especially when she’s just brought a new life into this world.

Instead of bringing her baby home and learning the rhythm of new motherhood, she’s been thrown into a world of uncertainty. She’s recovering from childbirth while fighting an aggressive cancer that doesn’t wait. No new mother should have to face this. She should be planning first outings and celebrating milestones, not planning oncology visits. Despite it all - through every moment of pain and fear - Sascha shows a strength and grace that leaves me in awe. Even through the exhaustion, pain, and fear, Sascha smiles at her baby girl with a love so fierce it lights up a room.

She deserves to spend her time being a mom, not worrying about medical bills or how to make ends meet. That’s why I’m creating this GoFundMe - to help her focus on healing, on love, and on the precious moments that matter most. The money raised will go toward her medical care, travel for treatments, and the many expenses that come with both cancer and caring for a newborn.

Sascha’s journey is just beginning, and she’s determined to fight with everything she has - for herself, and for the tiny miracle who gave her a reason to never give up. As her mother, all I want is for her to have the chance to raise her baby - to see first steps, birthdays, and all the moments she’s been dreaming about sharing with her sweet baby girl. We’re holding onto faith that love, community, hope, and prayer will help carry her through.

If you can, please help - by donating, sharing, or just keeping Sascha, Devin, and their baby girl in your prayers. Every act of kindness helps more than you can imagine. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing beside Sascha and our family in this fight. Thank you for loving Sascha with us.
