Hi There!

My name is Bobbi and I am fundraising for a classmate of mine, Sara McCann.

Both Sara and I are in our 6th term of 8 for our Masters of Acupuncture degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University.

Sara is a bit unique compared to most of us in school here - She drives an hour and a half everyday to come to class, while also working as a massage therapist at two different clinics AND raising a family of 5 kids. All while taking a full class load and maintaining a 4.00 GPA. Talk about busy, am I right?

If you know Sara, or sit in a classroom with her for even just 5 minutes, you will notice how extremely passionate about learning she is. Everyday when she drives into school, she will explain how she just listened to our professor's lecture 3x in a row just to fully understand the content.

Talk about devotion! Even with her life being, what I assume as incredibly busy, she has never once complained about the opportunity to come to school and then drive straight to her kid's track meet.

As of recent, Sara has been told she has to have surgery to remove a cyst that is pushing against her pituitary gland. The mass is the size of a golf ball and luckily benign, but still scary for her and her family. As of right now, this surgery will likely put her out of classes and work for at least 4 - 12 weeks.

Her doctor has recommended her to not give massages for at least 4 - 12 weeks because they are quite strenuous, therefore, Sara and her family are struggling to find the funds to make her recovery happen. As you can imagine, this is a big stresser for anyone who is familiar with the financial burden of unexpected medical procedures while also being an hourly wage employee.

Sara's surgery is set for September 25th, 2025, and I am hoping to raise a healthy amount that will allow her to recover properly as well as still provide for basic needs for her family without having to rush back into work. Luckily, our professors have been so accommodating to help her through this as well, but it would be nice for her to have some extra love!
