Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

On November 13th, at 4:30 a.m., my mom suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage caused by abnormal blood vessels she was born with (a condition called AVM). She was rushed into emergency brain surgery and given a 50/50 chance of survival. For 21 days, she was on life support, facing multiple complications, including a seizure, an infection from her tracheotomy, and a blood clot in her lung.

Despite the challenges, she has shown incredible strength and resilience. She is now off the ventilator, breathing on her own, and her neurosurgeon is optimistic about her recovery. However, she has a long road ahead. She will need extensive rehab to relearn basic life skills like walking, talking, and even brushing her teeth.

Unfortunately, while insurance is covering some major expenses like the ambulance, ER visit, and ICU stay, it does not cover the aftercare and rehabilitation she desperately needs. These first 90 days are critical for her recovery, but the cost of rehab is overwhelming. My parents are not asking for help with their monthly bills or mortgage; they are simply seeking assistance to ensure my mom gets the care she needs to rebuild her life.

We are reaching out to our village for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. It'll bring us closer to giving my mom the chance to recover fully and return to the life she loves, traveling and being on her boat with her husband, a loving mother to her 6 kids and an actively, fun grandmother to her 4 grandchildren.
