Hi Friends,
On October 12th, my husband Sam suffered a severe injury when a ladder collapsed beneath him, causing a hard fall. From our local ER, he was med-flighted to a larger hospital and admitted to the Surgical ICU (SICU). Thankfully, he didn’t require surgery, but he spent four days in intensive care and then several more days as an inpatient. Sam sustained fractures to four vertebrae, a rib, and his skull, along with multiple brain injuries. We feel incredibly grateful that he’s alive.
Sam is now home and recovering, and while he’s expected to make a full recovery, he has a long road ahead. Unfortunately, he’ll be unable to work for at least a year, potentially up to five years. I never imagined I would need to start a GoFundMe for our family, but I also never imagined my husband would face such a devastating injury.
We’re facing significant medical bills, including the cost of the med-flight, ICU stay, and many more expenses to come over an undetermined amount of time. Many people have kindly asked how they can support us during this time, and any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
If you know Sam, you know he has always worked hard to advance others, through 15 years of union work at the airline, in his hobbies and in his community… and he's never asked for anything in return. But given the unknowns ahead, I’m going to ask on his behalf for any sort of support you might be able and willing to give.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity, and a big thank you to those who have already reached out directly wondering how you can help.
