Ryker was born in September and has already captured the hearts of his entire family. He is such a sweet boy and he lights up the lives of all of us in his family. Unfortunately, he has already had to deal with a lot of adversity and now we are asking for help.
In October, Ryker's parents noticed that he wasn't moving his right leg as much as his left and seemed to be in pain whenever his right leg was touched. They took him to the doctor, thinking that he had hip dysplasia. Unfortunately, all of the x-rays and blood work were inconclusive. The doctors knew that something was wrong, but they weren't sure what was causing him so much pain. On November 19th, he was finally admitted to Primary Children's Hospital for an MRI, where the doctors confirmed that Ryker had an infection in the bone of his right leg. He was taken in for surgery that night where doctors started to clean out the infection. He is being kept in the hospital and may need another surgery and a month-long round of antibiotics. This infection has affected his growth plate. This could cause his right leg to stop growing or grow at a slower rate than his left leg. At this point we are unsure of how this will affect him. But there is a possibility that the effects of this infection will impact him for the rest of his life.
These specialist visits and hospital stays are vital to get Ryker healthy and comfortable again, but they are a huge financial burden. Your donations can help alleviate this burden so Ryker's parents can focus solely on caring for him and helping him heal.
Thank you so much for your support!
UPDATE 1:
Ryker has been scheduled for a second surgery on November 22nd. We are hopeful that after this surgery, he will not need any more. We did get more information about the severity of this infection. Had this not been caught when it was, Ryker could have died. .We will update again as we get more information. Thank you to all of have donated, shared and kept our family in your prayers. We love and appreciate you all!
