Rosa Reyes is a sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was living in the Dominican Republic when she suffered a devastating stroke. The stroke caused multiple blood clots, which led to her being intubated and undergoing craniotomy brain surgery to relieve pressure from brain swelling. Following the surgery, she was in a vegetative state with no reaction, and the outlook was grim. After several difficult days, doctors informed us that when intubation was removed, she only would have a 10% chance of survival.

Against all odds, our grandmother has shown incredible strength, gradually regaining consciousness and becoming aware of her surroundings. Her recovery has been nothing short of miraculous, but the road ahead is still long and filled with challenges.

We are now facing the financial burden of providing her with long-term care in the Dominican Republic. Our goal is to support her care until she can be safely brought back to the United States for further treatment. Unfortunately in the Dominican Republic, there is no assistance from insurance or programs for nursing care, doctor visits, medications, food, or necessary hospital equipment such as oxygen tanks.

Rosa is a God-fearing woman who has always lived her life by helping others in need. She made it a point to always live life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met. We want to be able to do this small gesture for her and support her during this time of need, as she has always supported others throughout her life.

We are reaching out to anyone who feels called to support her during this difficult time. No donation is too small and everything will go directly toward ensuring she has the care, comfort, and dignity she deserves. Rosa Reyes es una hermana, madre, abuela y amiga. Ella vivía en la República Dominicana cuando sufrió un devastador derrame cerebral. El derrame cerebral provocó múltiples coágulos de sangre, lo que la llevó a ser intubada y a someterse a una cirugía craneotomía para aliviar la presión causada por la hinchazón en su cerebro. Después de la cirugía, ella estuvo en un estado vegetativo sin reacción, y las perspectivas eran muy graves. Tras varios días difíciles, los médicos nos informaron que, al retirarse la intubación, solo tendría un 10% de posibilidades de sobrevivir.

Contra todo pronóstico, nuestra abuela ha mostrado una increíble fortaleza, recuperando gradualmente la conciencia y siendo capaz de reconocer su entorno. Su recuperación ha sido un verdadero milagro, pero el camino por delante aún es largo y lleno de desafíos.

Ahora nos enfrentamos a la carga financiera de proporcionarle cuidados a largo plazo en la República Dominicana. Nuestro objetivo es poder apoyarla en su atención hasta que pueda ser llevada de forma segura de regreso a los Estados Unidos para continuar su tratamiento. Lamentablemente, en la República Dominicana no existe asistencia de seguros ni programas para el cuidado de enfermeras, visitas médicas, medicamentos, alimentos ni equipos hospitalarios necesarios como tanques de oxígeno.

Rosa es una mujer temerosa de Dios que siempre ha vivido su vida ayudando a los demás en necesidad. Siempre se aseguró de vivir la vida al máximo, dejando un impacto duradero en todos los que conoció. Queremos poder hacer este pequeño gesto por ella y apoyarla en este momento de necesidad, tal como ella siempre ha apoyado a los demás a lo largo de su vida.

Nos dirigimos a cualquiera que sienta el llamado a apoyarla en este momento tan difícil. Ninguna donación es demasiado pequeña y todo se destinará directamente a garantizar que reciba el cuidado, la comodidad y la dignidad que merece.
