Help My Brother Roberto Recover from Eye Surgery

Hi, my name is Julie Torres, and I’m setting this up on behalf of my brother, Roberto Contreras.

Roberto recently learned that he needs urgent eye surgery that can’t be delayed. Without it, his vision could be at serious risk. The truth is, the last two years have already been filled with serious health challenges for him, and this surgery is yet another setback. He is currently on FMLA but does not receive his full paycheck, which makes it even harder to keep up with his basic expenses.

Roberto has always worked hard and has never been the type to ask for help. In fact, he didn’t want to do a GoFundMe—he was hesitant because he’s always been so independent. But I encouraged him to let me create this for him because right now, he truly needs the support.

His recovery is expected to take at least six weeks, and doctors have said it could take even longer before he’s fully healed. During this time, he’ll be unable to work, which means a significant loss of income while still needing to cover rent, essential bills, and medical expenses. Anyone who knows Roberto knows how much pride he takes in standing on his own, which makes this especially difficult for him.
