Hi, I’m Risa — a proud mom to two amazing kids, Logan (13) and Ari (11).

If I’m not working, I’m with my kids — helping with homework, cheering them on at their activities, or in the car driving them wherever they need to be. Being their mom is my greatest joy, and I work hard every day to give them a happy, stable life.

Recently, I faced a tough health challenge. After ongoing screenings due to my family’s cancer history, I was diagnosed with stage 1A ovarian cancer. Thankfully, it was caught early — and the hope is that surgery to remove one ovary will be enough to treat it. I’ve previously had a hysterectomy due to cervical cancer, so this is an emotional and physical hurdle I wasn’t expecting to face again so soon.

While I have insurance, the high deductible and out-of-pocket costs for surgery, follow-up care, and time off work have added up fast. I’ve been doing my best to juggle it all, but this has created a financial strain I can’t manage alone.

I haven’t told my kids the full story — they just know mom is having a “little procedure” and might need a bit of extra help while she recovers. I want to protect their peace and let them stay focused on being kids. Logan has been struggling enough with his mental health, and we are at his appointments every Tuesday.
