Hello, my name is Richard Moran, but most people call me Rich. I am a father of four and a grandfather of seven. For over 18 years, I have battled congestive heart failure, a condition that has affected every part of my life. I have had an LVAD system for a large part of 14 years of my life . I’ve been on the heart transplant list for many years, and after much perseverance and with the support of loved ones, I received a heart transplant two years ago.
But my journey didn’t end there.
While my heart transplant saved my life, complications during surgery due to my rare blood type led to kidney failure, and I’ve been on dialysis ever since. Sadly, my kidneys have now stopped functioning entirely, and I urgently need a kidney transplant to survive.
Throughout my long and difficult journey, I have been blessed to have incredible people by my side. My late mother, who also battled heart disease, was my number one supporter. My father, who always knew how to make me laugh and keep my spirits up, is also no longer with us. My wife, who was my rock through all of this, always made sure I stayed on track with my appointments and medications. Tragically, I lost her in 2020 to a sudden heart attack.
Now, I find myself in need once again. I’m reaching out to ask for help as I seek a living kidney donor. It’s been a long, challenging road, but I’m ready to keep fighting and push through. This transplant is my next step, and I need all the help I can get—whether it’s a kidney donor, financial support, or simply sharing my story.
