Rhiannon's Battle for Health and Recovery
Donation protected
Rhiannon Amyotte is 6 years old and in the first grade. A happy go lucky kind of gal. She will say whatever’s on her mind and she will always make you laugh with that. She also has a way of being empathetic to others. Always knows when someone’s not feeling right and she will do whatever to bring your spirit up!
In November of 2023, we found out Rhiannon had acute b-cell lymphoma. We were almost to maintenance but her last few rounds of chemo were strong and it knocked her counts down to where it is hard for her body to fight off any type of infection. She picked up a common cold virus to as of which we stayed in the hospital for 9 days. They thought she was well enough but her counts were still down when we went home. They figure that she could’ve still had an infection when we left and somehow she picked up a fungal infection - which is the worst thing that can happen to a child with no immune to fight it off. It took almost 2 weeks to show up and in the meantime she was getting more and more sick. Finally, it came back as mucor. Most kids do not survive this type of fungal infection. It is aggressive and has spread to her brain.
She was flown out to Rochester MN, last night for a surgery to take out part of her lung. The Dr. felt that she has a fighting chance if by cutting out part of her lung where the fungus infection is. And with antibiotics to assist fight the infection! With it being spread to her brain, she can have seizures and lose coordination. Her grandma Pam is with her right now and if everything goes well, they will need to stay for a few months at the least during Rhiannon’s recovery.
Any little donation will help and be so very much appreciated! Please keep Rhiannon in your thoughts and prayers ❤️ Thank you for taking time to read her story.
