Rez Rockerz is a brand-new music camp launching this summer in Dunseith, North Dakota created by and for Indigenous girls, LGBTQ+, and Two-Spirit youth.
Why I Started Rez Rockerz
I was born and raised on the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa reservation, where like many Native youth, I grew up surrounded by the beauty of my culture, and hardship. When I moved off the rez, underground music became a lifeline for me. It gave me a voice when I felt invisible. It helped me move through grief, isolation, and struggle. And most importantly, it helped me find community.
Rez Rockerz was created to be that kind of space, a place where Indigenous youth can feel supported, empowered, and proud of who they are. This camp isn’t just about learning an instrument it’s about connection, healing, and belonging. I want the next generation of Rez kids to know they matter, their voices matter, and their stories deserve to be heard loud and clear.

From June 23–27, 2025, we’re bringing Native youth together for a week of hands-on music education, songwriting, performance, and community building. It’s about more than learning an instrument, it’s about building confidence, creativity, and pride in who you are.
But we need your help to make it happen.
This is our first-ever year running camp, and your donations will directly fund essential costs, including:
- Volunteer housing (8 instructors staying at SkyDancer Casino)
- Meals for campers & volunteers (breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks)
- Rez Rockerz gear (shirts, stickers, water bottles)
- Instruments for youth who may not otherwise have access (guitars, drums, mics, etc.)
- Two cooks to prepare meals on-site
- Location rental for the week ($500)
Donation Breakdown – Every Dollar Counts:
- $25 = Snacks and drinks for one day
- $50 = Full meals for one camper for the week
- $100 = Covers Rez Rockerz merch for one youth
- $250 = Outfits a full band with basic instruments
- $500 = Supports a volunteer’s housing + meals for the week
Our Goal: $6,500
This will cover our most urgent camp needs.
If we exceed our goal, every extra dollar goes toward more instruments, food, and future Rez Rockerz programming.
