Hello, my name is Xander, and I am a third-year student at Murdoch University, studying English and Screen Production. I am the writer and director of Rewritten, a short film that sheds light on the experience of manhood and growing up without a father. I believe film is one of the best mediums for conveying messages and sharing stories that we hold dear, Rewritten is a short film that displays a story I hold dear. Two brothers, Jamie and Xavier, are bound by their shared love of art and writing but divided by grief. After the death of their father, they struggle to reconnect while navigating the pressures of creative life, it isn’t until they recognise each other’s flaws, that they can become whole again.
When I was Ten and my brother was Seven, our father passed away. We found each other bonding through our love for film and used it as a way to rebuild our relationship and find purpose. Film is something that can speak to us all, and with the constant oversaturation in media, it is so important to share stories that have personal connection and perspective.
Donating to our “Go Fund Me” will provide help with securing locations, feeding cast and crew, purchasing props, costumes, transporting, and other rental opportunities. It is open for anyone who is able to donate any amount of money. We very much appreciate every bit of help we can receive, and it will be used directly for the purpose of this third-year film production. The story focuses on life and change, and every donation will make a difference, we appreciate your help and consideration!
