Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this but my family is going through an incredibly difficult time, and I’m reaching out for help on behalf of my mom. After a long, painful fight, my mom is now in remission from breast cancer. She’s still receiving treatment and doing her best to recover physically and emotionally from everything cancer has taken from her. But just as she started to see a light at the end of the tunnel, her world was turned upside down when a devastating house fire destroyed her home—leaving her with nothing but the clothes on her back. Thankfully she made it out safely but she lost everything else.

In a matter of hours, everything she owned was gone. Every memory, every possession—gone in the fire. Since then, she’s been living out of hotels, trying to hold on to some sense of stability while continuing her cancer treatments. It’s heartbreaking to see her go through this after everything she’s already survived.

She has lost not only her shelter but also her sense of safety and stability—all while trying to stay strong for herself and her children. This is a moment no one can prepare for, she’s one of the strongest people I know but no one even the strongest should have to face this kind of hardship alone. We are doing everything we can to rebuild but it’s been extremely hard, emotionally and financially. We really need your help.

• Temporary housing

• Basic necessities (clothing, food, hygiene items)

• Rebuilding what was lost in the fire

• Most importantly for a down payment for a new home
