Hi my name is Duwaine Sheerwood a Jamaican born from the parish of St. Elizabeth from the community of Thornton. My entire family lived in Thornton my sisters and I attended schools in neighboring community of Siloah. Our country was hit by Hurricane Melissa on Tuesday October 28th,2025, impacting our communities, leaving so many individuals with nothing except the clothing on their backs. In the midst of this my mom lost the roof to her home, her sister died on October 28th during the hurricane and two weeks later November 11th her mom died.

My childhood home is roofless and and the same goes for my neighbours. Our local shops are damaged, roads damaged, supermarkets are damaged and soon so many will be out of food.

Our beautiful people and my family are trying so hard to put the pieces back together and to organize the funeral for our loved ones. We need the help to procure essential food items , possible building materials and assistance to cover the funeral arrangements.

The place I once called home is now a distant memory.
