Hi, my name is Jennifer. I’m a bit embarrassed but don’t know what else to do. I’m a special education teacher, wife, and daughter. Our community was hit hard by rainstorms that have flooded our area. We are again without power. The power was knocked out at about 5:00 on Saturday and was on briefly last night. There was another storm that hit us and our power is out again. On Saturday I was awoken by my husband banging on the ceiling for help. He had fallen asleep in his recliner and could not get up as he isn’t able to walk very well and often uses a wheelchair. The basement is his area and his comfort zone after dealing with a lot of medical issues which require him to stay in a recliner. My mom lives with us and is not mobile and can not wash or dress herself. She is safe upstairs but stuck in a power chair and can not be moved to bed. We are struggling and need help. I am unable to find help to pull up the carpeting let alone replace it. The refrigerator that holds specialty shakes and other medications, husbands recliner (mine too but I’ll sit in the floor) and both couches are a total loss. The cabinets for my husbands nephrostomy supplies and most of those supplies I pay out of pocket for are no longer usable. Even more frustrating is the vaccum and rug shampooer are ruined as well. I won’t even start on how his face changed when I told him his sports memorabilia was ruined. I’ve used the last of our money to purchase necessities. A lot was thrown our way this year and I’ve truly done my best. The teaching supplies I took home as directed are ruined as well. I need to repurchase items for my special education students who have Autism, Down Syndrome, and ADHD. I need help. Could you please donate to help support our current needs and those of my students? I will pay this forward once I am back to work and able to. That’s a promise. If you can not donate please share to your friends and family. Thank you in advance.
Above all we are all still alive and safe. We will be okay no matter what.
