Meet Basil, the sweetest and softest cat you will probably ever meet. Basil was adopted in February and has been such a wonderful critter, bringing us so much joy. If you’ve had the opportunity to meet her, you would understand how amazing she really is.

Unfortunately for this sweet girl, she has run into some medical issues. We were first told by a Banfield vet that she had some gingivitis, but they did not explain the severity - only that we should look into some oral cleanings. During her first checkup with our normal vet, she told us that her gingivitis is severe and she will need teeth pulled. This surgery will cost a couple thousand dollars.

Basil’s health declined severely during the following month. She went from a happy, playful, and healthy cat, to barely getting off the couch, not playing, and not eating. After another visit, we were informed she has Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) and is experiencing a flare up. A round of costly medication later, some bloodwork revealed Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). A few years ago, FIB was a death sentence for cats, but new treatments have a very high survival rate.

Our sweet Basil still needs an ultrasound, and a round of expensive treatment, and a costly surgery.

We would be so grateful for any amount donated to ensure the best care for Basil. We are budgeting the best we can, but we are fighting something that moves much faster than us.

She’s made such a difference in our lives already and all we want is for her to be herself again.
