Help Joe Huizenga Get Back on the Road
Donation protected
Our father, Joe Huizenga, was in a rollover accident in Walkerville on Christmas Eve on his way into Muskegon for our family Christmas dinner. His truck was totaled, but luckily he walked away with just some minor scrapes, bruises, and a very achy body. He needs neck surgery but has been putting it off because he is afraid he won't make it through it. He has collapsed disc's and bone spurs pushing on his spinal cord. We are eternally grateful that he is still alive!
We are having trouble trying to plan the next step, replacing his only means of transportation, so that is why we are starting this GoFundMe. His insurance doesn't cover anything for this accident. He only had PLPD and no coverage on an accident like this. No one else was involved; it was just very poor road conditions.
He resides in Wellston, MI, which is between Manistee and Cadillac. He was a Muskegon resident for over 50 years. He does have to travel down to see us girls, his mother, other family and friends, and a few of his doctors. It is very important he is able to travel to his appointments (Manistee, Ludington, Cadillac, and Muskegon) or to come see family.
Our father is on a limited income since he is only on SSI. He has been denied multiple times for SSDI even though he has endured a bleeding brain aneurysm, a widowmaker heart attack, and he was also stationed at Fort McClellan (one of the most toxic places on Earth) where he was poisoned through the water, soil, and in the air; plus the PCBs from Monsanto in the next town over. He was denied by the VA again the day before this accident. The SSDI judge that denied him said that the medical documentation was there but his answers made him seem uncreditable and that he had never been informed that my dad was poisoned; had he been, the outcome of his case would have been much better. He has many health issues and sees many doctors from all over the west side of Michigan; his battle for disability also requires him to be able to make it to appointments.
Life has truly been an uphill battle for our father, to say the least. Between fighting for benefits and dealing with his health issues and the symptoms associated with them, he understandably sometimes feels a bit hopeless. It is VERY hard for him to ask for help, since he is always the one that helps when people need it. We are asking if you could find it in your heart to donate, even if it’s only $5, to help us try to find a used reliable truck for him. We would greatly appreciate any help easing the financial difficulties he is facing due to this accident.
The funds will be completely used to get a vehicle for our father!
Thank you,
Emily & Jenny Huizenga (Joe's daughters)
