Hi everyone! My name is Shelby Mott and in January of this year, I lost my dad, my only surviving immediate family member. Since then, I’ve proudly taken on our family home. There are several repairs that need to be done that he was not able to do while he was still here. The heat isn’t working and it will be $6,400 to replace the furnace. The entire furnace has to be replaced since the original is too old; otherwise, there will be no warranty on it. Next, the kitchen windows have rotted out and need to be replaced, and I was quoted $2,400 for that. The flooring also needs to be replaced in the master bedroom, which is another $2,400.

Those are the main areas of concern at the moment. If I’m able to raise beyond the initial goal, that will go towards cemetery bills and medical bills.

I’ve never had an easy time asking for help, but everything happened so suddenly and my main focus has been paying the bills. My parents worked incredibly hard their entire lives and built a beautiful life for our family, but with my mom being diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2012, I’m not left with much financially to help with these repairs.

My childhood home means everything to me. It’s what I have left of my family. I see my parents in every room and every flower bed, in every single detail, and it’s where I myself want to grow old. I’m taking on this project with immense pride, but I know I can’t do this alone.

I am beyond grateful for my dad’s family, Travis and his family, our closest friends, and coworkers for the help and support they have already provided. Again, I simply could not do this alone.
