Emergency Removal - Hillside Eucalyptus Tree Fund

Dear Neighbors,

As you may have noticed while driving down Hillside Drive, there is a dead exposed eucalyptus tree on the property of Dr. Paul Rosenberg (21122 Hillside Drive), a valued member of our community for nearly six decades.

Unfortunately, this tree poses a significant risk to the entire community. If this tree were to fall, it could block traffic for several days, causing major inconvenience to our community.

For years, Dr. Paul has been trying to get the county to intervene without success as the tree is two feet too far off the easement. To compound this issue, Dr. Paul has not been in the best health nor financially strong enough since he has been in the hospital since February of last year.

Dr. Paul has been a clinical psychiatrist for almost 70 years, founded the LA Free Clinic and has treated thousands of patients for free providing much-needed care to LA communities.

I am reaching out to all of you today, hoping that we can come together as a community and raise some additional funds necessary to remove this tree before it becomes a more significant problem.

With the recent and continuous rainfall and wind conditions, this tree is gonna fall, it's just a matter of when, causing all kinds of problems, damages and road closures.

We have received three separate quotes for the removal of the tree, ranging from $12,000 to $6,000. The tree removal operation will take two days with sporadic road closures as some of the smaller tree limbs will get cut down before full removal.

We recently investigated the site with a local contractor (De Santiago Tree Service) who quoted the $6000 and is available on Wednesday, March 29nd and Thursday March 30th.

If you contribute any amount, no matter how small, it would be greatly greatly appreciated. So far, we've raised $1,800.
