This is KesslerSyndrome_DJ, and this past weekend (27th), my family experienced the flood in the Rio Grande Valley. When the flood started, it filled the street and our front yard. Then it came through the wall in my office, and me, my wife, and my mother-in-law were forced to evacuate.

We ended up having our car stall multiple times when we were trying to evade the flood waters, and eventually we were forced to push the vehicle to higher ground for 3 miles in waist high water in order to keep us and our cats alive. We got trapped by a sudden swell of water, and it felt like we were engulfed in a second.

The house is ruined. It’s beyond repair. There is mold everywhere, and sewage water all over the floor. The walls shake when you push on them in spots, and the floor is buckling as the water settles through it. Different floors in separate rooms are at different angles, and the foundation outside is visibly cracked.

We can’t live here anymore because it's not safe or healthy, and because of that, I’ve started this GoFundMe to help raise money for moving costs, a moving vehicle, and to help with down payments and first month’s rent on the new property. We have been staying in a hotel, and can use help with costs for that as well.

I am not sure what else to do at this point, and need any help for me and my family that can be offered.
