Yeah, the electricity is back on! Fridge has been cleaned out. food has been Dropped off. More cleaning is being done. Still waiting to hear from landlord.

FEMA they say is on the way. People of the north side and their generosity have fed and watered community. It’s been a site to see how they have come together.

we thank all who have come together to help us.

Update Tuesday 5/21

They have had to leave their home Monday night. The roof finally collapsed into their bedroom. With the storms coming again they realized it was time to leave. They have rehomed 4 of the dogs. Eyeore and sweet pea went with them. We sent an Urber and they stuffed in their values, the dogs and their selves in. Karry’s dad let them stay there last night.

They have no permanent housing, food, clothes or household items.

FYI. Derrick and Karry’s home was damaged. They are ok. But it was very scary for them.

Timonthy and I were there about 2 hours after it went through. I had a hard time getting to them. So, I went and bought 3 large waters so they could have fresh clean water to drink. With the electricity out no cards to buy only cash. Luckily I had some i usually don’t.

Electric was out everywhere. Street lights are out. Driving without them you are taking your life in your own hands. Driving was dangerous as electric wires were in the streets ,on the ground and hanging from the poles. Several large pole lines were bent and cracking. The amount of trees in The neighborhood that we broken down limbs every where.

Fairground park lost a lot of trees and limbs. The broken trees were blocking the streets, fell on houses, and to me it looked like a war zone. House’s lost their exterior walls showing the inside. Roofs were torn off and litter the streets. I saw three churches just crumpled, bricks all over the place. They do have running water to take baths.

The coolest thing I saw people out with shovels clearing the streets, sidewalk and their porches, no one asked them they just did it.

When I went back today there were organizations giving out cooked hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade Mac in cheese. They were giving out water for free just taking care of their neighbors. It was so neat.

Their roof was damaged by trees and the neighbors roof flew off and damaged their roof, the bedroom took a direct hit and it also took out the AC unit.

No they don’t have insurance. But they are in a rent to own situation, so it will be condemned and that should get them out of the lease.

They are looking for a new place but their budget only has 500-660 range. If you know of any rooms, apartments, houses, etc. for rent.

The main issue is they have rescued 6 dogs. There is no place that will let them have 6 large dogs. They are trying to find homes for 4 and only keep their two support dogs.

They need all the prayers and good thoughts they can get.

If you feel moved, please go to their Go Fund Me site, to help them get a new place. They need the deposit, first and last month’s rent.

Thank you very much much.
