Hi, my name is Adam, and I am asking for your help to raise money for my partner, Gabriella's surgery to remove a meningioma and a bone tumour located on her left frontal lobe.
I met Gabriella around 8 years ago in Chiang Mai, Thailand. What started as a chance encounter on Christmas eve soon blossomed into a beautiful love story that we have been writing together ever since. Over the years we have shared so many magical experiences on our journey and have loved, laughed, cried and grown together, and adopted, raised and cared for 5 wonderful cats and dogs. We have also faced many challenges together.
Recently Gabriella has encountered a number of health problems, tumours found in multiple parts of her body, biopsies and the terror, stress and ongoing medical examinations which go with those situations. When Gabriella was diagnosed with a bone tumour on her head and a meningioma on the protective layer around the brain, it has sent us on another difficult journey.
After consulting 7 different neurosurgeons across several countries, it became apparent that surgery is necessary, as the risks of leaving it are too dangerous. Whilst only a small fraction of Meningiomas are malignant, further growth can also cause damage to the brain.
After researching and visiting many hospitals and being presented with hugely expensive estimates, we settled on having surgery at Sriphat Medical Centre in Chiang Mai. Gabriella will undergo surgery in mid October that will include,
- Frontal Craniotomy - removing the section of skull with the bone tumour in it.
- Removal of Meningioma - surgically removing the tumour located on the protective membrane surrounding the brain.
- Frontal Cranioplasty - replacing the removed section of skull with synthetic material.
- Biopsies of both tumours - testing whether they are cancerous.
The total cost of the surgery is estimated at 420,000 THB, $ 13,000, £9700.
The costs obviously don't stop at just the surgery, as this type of surgery can entail significant recovery time and necessary support. This is obviously a big financial burden to bare, and when Gabriella shared what she has been going through on social media, the messages of support and the donations to help started pouring in which has been amazing to see.
Amazing, but not surprising to me, because Gabriella is such a kind and generous person, who has dedicated much of her life to helping others, working with women, and raising funds for orphanages, homeless shelters, animal shelters, access to education and victims of natural disasters, amongst many other causes. She is a wonderful person who truly deserves your help.
We understand that these are challenging times for many and any support you can offer,- be it financial, sharing this fundraiser or simply sending your love - means the world to both of us. Your kindness and generosity have the power to make a significant difference in our lives at this difficult time.
