I'm Sara and I'm helping to raise funds for a new car for my best friend Rachel. Anyone who has known Rachel for any amount of time knows how giving she is with her time and energy to those in need. Now she's the one who needs our help! Her Mazda, which she has had with her through her time living in three different states, has finally driven its last mile.
Currently Rachel works and lives on property at a private boarding school in Lexington, Texas. The program aims to provide a structured and supportive setting for struggling teens. Rachel's dream for more than a decade has been to work in ministry, specifically with young people, and to be given the opportunity to teach them about their worth and value. Now, at this school for almost 5 years, she has worked closely with hundreds of teen girls, nurturing and supporting them, and showing them that they are loved.
Rachel cares deeply for those around her and her relationships are important to her. While she lives close to Austin, most of her family and close friends live more than 2 hours away in the Houston area and she quite often spends her days off making the trip to spend time with her mom and other family members, as well as visiting us and our 5 year old twins who are obsessed with their Aunt "Itchy" as she is lovingly nicknamed. My husband and I are owners of the Houston Toy Museum and since we opened in 2022, Rachel has given so much of her time and energy to helping our business thrive! We could never express how valuable she has been to our journey as business owners, and if we could buy her a whole new vehicle ourselves, we would!
As much as she loves her job working with teens, as in any job of this nature, it is hard work emotionally. Because of this, her off days are important to her mental health and a big part of that had been having the freedom to go into town when she needed groceries or being able to hop in the car and go to Houston for the night. It wasn't until her car stopped driving that she realized how valuable it was to her independence and mental health.
We're asking for those who are able to give a few dollars to go toward helping her with a down payment for a reliable vehicle so that she can go back to doing the things she loves and having the independence that she so relies on to thrive. Let's get her back on the road!
