Help My Mom Mari Zapata Fight Lung Cancer
Donation protected
My mom, Mari Zapata, was recently diagnosed with a vicious lung cancer. The doctors said that the only way to keep it from spreading is by having her take a specific medication: Afatinib.
We lost my father due to another illness 2 months after my mom's diagnosis. She's now a single mother of 2 who works in a car wash, so it's tough to make ends meet and still afford the medication. My sister and I are still students, and have taken up jobs to try and help her, but it seems that it's not enough.
The hospital told us that they would only be able to supply us with 2 months worth of medication, but after that point we would have to pay for the remaining 6 months worth of medication on our own.
The cancer has recently metastasized to the brain, and without this medication it will continue to spread.
Each dose of medicine costs $2,300 and she will need 6 doses before we would be eligible for subsidized healthcare.
