My name is Thomas Austin. I have never created a GoFundMe before and have never felt such a strong urgency to do so before now. That changed when a family that I have known for years on Facebook as genuinely good people, traditional Christian values, the backbone of American Society, and the kind of family one would feel blessed to know experienced such a travesty from the Education system for their 13-year-old son, that I cannot look away from this and feel I must do what I can to help them during this time of need.

In these trying times where the bar for accusing people of crimes without any evidence is non-existent, false accusations made like one is just hurling a rude insult without any concern of real social damage, and the mob mentality hive mind that has taking over social media. This family’s son has been accused of being a sexual predator by peers in his school that have no understanding of how serious a charge that is or what it really means. To know this family just from Facebook pictures and posts alone, makes this accusation ridiculous; however, the smear attempts, as a form of bullying and character assassination, is quite sinister. I implore everyone to view the desperate video from a mother (Sue Belden-Hurlburt) to reach the families of those individuals lying about and harassing her son to please make them stop. Unfortunately, the school system in town, my hometown of Whitehall, has failed her son by not getting in front of this issue and correcting it at the student and parent level because, in my humble opinion, those in charge are more concerned with lawyers than doing the right thing for their students.

This family, out of concern for their child’s mental health and safety, with no assistance and support from administration to stop this or protect their son, felt they had no choice but to pull their son from the school and place him in a private Christian School. This family is not wealthy. Private school is very expensive, and I am very concerned the additional financial burden will be more than they can handle and their son is only in 8th grade. Also, to clear their son’s name and provide accountability to those that have harmed him may require legal counseling, which is very costly.

I don’t know how much financial need is necessary to get them started with the new school and for possible legal counseling; however, I have set this campaign with a goal of $20,000 to get them though the end of this school year (school is outside of town with no available school provided transportation) until other options for education are possibly made available.

If you have gotten this far and possibly viewed Sue Belden-Hurlburt's post and possibly seen examples of the genuinely good people they are and what a very young and innocent child forced into a society were social media and mob rule is hurting children, then I ask that you may consider donating to this child’s education fund to get back what was taken from him so quickly and with such malice. If unable to support financially, please send prayers for this boy and his family because they need them so desperately right now. I feel so strongly that justice is needed for this child that not only am I creating this GoFundMe, but I am the very first donor and praying for them. Thank you for your time and consideration.
