I never wanted to make a post like this, but the situation I am in has left me with no other choice.

As some of you may already know, I have been living in an abusive relationship for the past decade and a half. For many years, I was misled, manipulated, and pressured into believing the relationship was stable when it was not. Recent events have made the reality impossible to ignore.

I am now pursuing a divorce.

Unfortunately, my husband is attempting to twist the situation in ways that put me at risk of leaving this marriage with nothing. Because of this, I have no choice but to hire legal representation if I want any possibility of protecting myself, my stability, and my future. Legal fees for a case like this often fall between 10,000 and 20,000 dollars, and due to long-term financial control within the marriage, I do not have the resources to cover that on my own.

A lawyer is necessary because he has been unfaithful and is refusing an amicable divorce. He has also made threats regarding my housing and is attempting to put me in a position where I could be left with nothing or even end up owing him money.

On top of that, he is trying to take away the one being who matters most to me: my cat Achilles. Achilles is a sweet orange rescue who has been my companion and support for years. He does not deserve to be used as leverage in this situation, but that is what is happening now.

For safety reasons, I need to be clear about one thing. If you are still in contact with him, please end that contact and block him on all platforms. He has been emotionally abusive, and continued access to people in my circle puts me at risk. Taking this step protects both my safety and the stability of the legal process.
