Helloo!! My name is Prior and I just got top surgery! Hooray!
I had been dreaming of this procedure for years and it's finally happened. I used to bind every day until I was forced to stop due to bruising on my chest. I used Trans Tape to pull my breasts back and achieve a flatter appearance, but I got permanent scarring from removing them several times a week. I have made several self-portraits in the past, depicting myself performing my own top surgery.
In November of 2023, I had a consultation at Temple University after getting off of the wait list, and all I needed from there was a letter to confirm my gender dysphoria. That fell through because I was given the runaround as soon I told the call center that I was trans. This game of phone tag went for six months and I gave up on them.
In October of this year, I was able to get another consultation with Jefferson Hospital in South Jersey. Everyone was so kind and everything was so streamlined, so I was able to get my letter and surgery date in no time at all!
The day of the surgery came so quickly, and I've been so blessed to have such a wonderful support system of loved ones helping me before and after the procedure.
During the recovery process, I will not be able to work for at least a month. Even shifting in bed is a painful feat, so while I heal my main concerns are rent, groceries, medicine, and bills.
Anything helps me stay as safe and comfortable as possible during my recovery! Thank you so much for your time :)
