He's a dedicated father and a dedicated firefighter. His upbeat attitude is infectious, and his kindness is unparalleled. Well, Ronnie actually needs help this time, and I'll use his words to explain his situation.

"Hello, my name is Ron Womack. I need to pay for a mandatory surgery to keep my vision in my right eye. For those reading this who have ever met or worked with me, you know how much of an issue this has been for me. For those of you reading this who do not know me, in 2016 I was diagnosed with a condition called Keratoconus. Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease, which means that it will get worse over time. If left untreated, it can cause permanent vision loss. The disease can be managed with early, less invasive treatment options that are designed to halt the progression if caught in time. Unfortunately, when I was diagnosed, it was already too late for the first treatment option that would have prevented the disease from progressing to the point where I am now. Currently, my vision is being corrected by hard contacts to reshape my cornea and allow me to function day to day, but this is now no longer a viable option. Recently, I was informed that due to the progression of the disease, my next option, in order to save the vision of my right eye, is to have a form of cornea transplant called Deep Lamellar Keratoplasty or DLK. This procedure is extremely effective and will not only significantly improve my vision but also stop the progression of the disease. It is also very expensive. Health insurance will cover a good amount of the cost, but with personal loans and care credit not being an option, I am still left with a hefty out-of-pocket portion that I am having trouble trying to cover. This surgery would not only be life-changing but would also help me continue my career as a firefighter/Paramedic. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
