My name is Ron MacKenzie, and I have been running for over 30 years. As an ultramarathon runner from Portland, Oregon, I have seen firsthand the beauty and necessity of our trails. On August 23, 2025, I will be tackling the grueling Oregon Cascades 100—one hundred miles of breathtaking landscapes, rugged terrain, and pure perseverance—to raise funds for Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO).
Why It Matters
Oregon’s trails are more than just dirt paths—they are gateways to adventure, solitude, and connection. Yet, with federal and state budget cutbacks, the responsibility of maintaining these precious spaces increasingly falls to volunteers. That is where TKO comes in.
Trailkeepers of Oregon is a nonprofit committed to preserving and enriching our hiking experience through stewardship, advocacy, outreach, and education. They build, restore, and maintain trails across the state, ensuring that future generations can explore Oregon’s wilderness just as we do today.
How You Can Help
Every trail on our public lands depends on volunteer efforts, and TKO leads the charge—through organized trail parties, teamwork events, and behind-the-scenes coordination. But they cannot do it alone.
Your donation helps fund crucial trail maintenance, training for volunteers, and advocacy efforts that protect access to these natural spaces. Whether you are a hiker, runner, or simply someone who loves the outdoors, this is your chance to make an impact.
Consider donating today, and let us keep Oregon’s trails open, accessible, and thriving—for everyone.
Every dollar counts. Every step matters. Let us do this together!
Donate now and help preserve Oregon’s trails!
