Donate to Mama Pine and Her Survivor Kittens

Donation protected
Hi! I’m organizing this fundraiser to help a young Brooklyn street cat named Mama Pine and her 5 young babies. Two are littermate entanglement survivors and each have a missing limb. When you read their story you will learn that mom was not a candidate for spay when we brought her inside as she was heavily pregnant with a very bad upper respiratory infection. It was so bad that we took her to the ER in the middle of the night. She began antibiotics for her URI and gave birth during the course of her antibiotic treatment.

A relative and I have rallied together to provide care for the family and give them the best start to life we can give. Currently, we need to raise funds to cover Mama Pine's upcoming spay. We'd also like her evaluated for dental as her canine tooth fell out on its own while in our care. Thank you to everyone who donates, is following their story and is cheering for these outdoor kitties to have a beautiful + comfortable life off the stressful streets of Brooklyn. May this fur family continue to know safety, love, excellent care and community support.

xx

Mama Pine's Story

I first saw Mama Pine on my way to the A train. I spotted a small young tuxedo from across the street darting under cars and guessed she was about 8-9 months old. As I approached I found her small face foraging for food in the trash bags put out for collections. I began to feed her every time I saw her and soon found out she lived in an abandoned junk yard on Pine Street. After much persistence, I was able to gently scoot her into a carrier and brought her inside. Mama Pine had a bad URI that made her a high risk for a spay. For this reason, we took her to the vet, got her a pregnancy safe antibiotic and settled her into a spare bedroom where she soon gave birth.

After birth, Mama Pine made it very clear that she wanted us to give her space so she could nurse her babies, so we did. On Mother’s Day 05/11/25, while cleaning her room we noticed that three of the littermates were entangled in placenta by their feet. We took them to VERG Animal Hospital ER where they were immediately taken back and treated. We rallied for all three babies but one littermate, named Linden, sadly did not make it.

The other two siblings, Cedar and Holly (formerly Maple), however, did survive the disentanglement. Each came home with one new little nubbie on their back leg. Cedar lost most of his foot and Holly lost most of her leg. We were sent home with antibiotics and instructions to visit our private vet within the next 7 days for evaluation. First thing Monday morning 5/19 the two babies were seen and evaluated by their primary vet and the surgeon in the office. Their news was bright and we were instructed to monitor the babies closely and return in a week. They also advised we would need to seek out a specialist surgeon.

This fundraiser is created to cover vet costs for the entanglement survivor kittens (Cedar + Holly), vet costs for the family, kitten food, Mama Pine's Spay and everything else associated with bringing an outdoor mama and her babies inside (deworming, fecal tests, pee pads, litter, etc) . At this time we're unsure if the two survivor babies will need amputations, but we are consulting vet surgeons in the NYC/ NJ area. Any and all donations received are going toward their continued care and vet visits.

Kindly consider donating to this effort to give this family the best start to life we can offer. Mama Pine is a young street cat who shows signs of being friendly and has been warming up. We believe we can fully socialize her during her time with us and have begun to make progress.

Thank you in advance for your support + the difference we get to make for Mama Pine + her babies. <3

Warmly,
Erica, Mama Pine + The Baby Bumble Kittens
