Donate to Peggy's Rehabilitation and Care

Hi everyone, my name is Amber Perkins and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my mother in law, Peggy Perkins-Osborne.

Peggy and Chuck could really use our help right now. As some of you may know, Peggy was still adjusting from a spinal reconstruction surgery that was done 2 1/2 years ago and a hip replacement that was done in July of last year. Up until a few weeks ago she had been staying on the lower level of her home since she was not able to use the stairs. She had just recently started sleeping in her upstairs bedroom again and on August 28th as she was heading up to bed she passed out halfway up the stairs and fell. Due to this fall she sustained a very serious neck and spinal cord injury.

Her C4 and C5 vertebrae were broken and from C3 to T7 were compressed.

She was rushed to Memorial Hospital and on August 30th she underwent surgery on her neck where bone was removed to help reduce the pressure on her spinal cord and rods and screws were placed. Overall the surgery went well, but due to the extent of the injury she has very limited mobility and will require extensive therapy multiple hours a day. She spent a week in the ICU at Memorial and was just moved to a rehabilitation hospital that is in the top 10% in the nation.

Anyone that knows Peggy can tell you that she is one of the most giving people out there. She would help someone in need before helping herself and right now we are asking that if you are able, please help her in her time of need and lighten the load of the expenses that this injury will bring. Chuck has been off work and by her side since the fall, but will have to return soon for financial reasons. Any funds raised will go straight to Peggy and Chuck to use toward bills, anything medically that Peggy may need along the way, any changes that may need to be made at home to make things accessible for her and also to give Chuck the ability to take more time off work as needed to be with and care for her.
