Hello, I am Christine - aunt to Emily and sister-in-law to Marcy. If any of you have been to Emily and Marcy’s shoppe, Natural Selection, you know they love animals, especially dogs.
Wednesday (8.27.25) Marcy was on the front step of the shoppe with peewee (mini canine shoppe assistant to Natural Selection) when two large dogs, loose in midtown, approached Marcy and peewee, snatching peewee from Marcy’s lap. The dog shook peewee like a ragdoll and after flinging him into the air, peewee was able to eventually scurry under a car. In the attack, peewee sustained life-threatening injuries and had to be rushed to the ER where it took until the afternoon of the next day for him to stabilize.
This morning (8.29.25), Peewee was stable enough to go into surgery to make sure no organs were punctured, beyond the puncture wounds he sustained on the outside of his little body.
Beyond the emotional trauma Emily and Marcy sustained in seeing this happen to peewee, Emily is now faced with the reality of the cost to save his life. But, there was no question, he needed to be saved. Peewee may be itty bitty, but if any of you have met him, he is mighty where it counts and that is in the heart department. He is an A-1+++ professional snuggler and one of the sweetest little guys I’ve had the honor to meet.
Emily fought me about setting up this fundraiser because it is so incredibly vulnerable to ask for support and say she and peewee may need help, but that is the beauty of humans, we do care and I want her to see that. With the reality of the costs over the past days, I am reaching out to you to help out Emily and peewee. Sadly, like many of us, peewee, was unable to afford health insurance, so this is all out of pocket.
We are working to reach out to the owners of the dogs involved with this incident and those are moving parts we hope can help fill in with cost, but this is uncertain and we will keep updates here and be fully transparent with peewee’s costs and where your money is going. All these details have been a sludge to move through, while also getting peewee well and dealing with the emotions and trauma of the circumstances.
At this time, the cost estimate for Peewee’s care stands at somewhere between $12K-$14K. As you can imagine, being a small business owner, Emily isn’t living like a Rockefeller and is stringing payments across credit cards and any little bits she can to pay for peewee’s care and these decision are happening in real time for her. Also, with peewee’s beloved big sister and senior shoppe icon, Peaches, passing over the rainbow ridge less than a month ago, Emily is still pretty gutted and is now dealing with this new traumatic experience. The biggest focus remains that PEEWEE IS ALIVE, thank dog.
To any who can donate - THANK YOU! To those who just can’t swing the $ at this time, please share and send healing/loving energy to peewee, Emily and Marcy at this time - THANK YOU! We love you and cannot wait until peewee is healed and back home and in the shoppe where he belongs and is able repay you all with his top-notch SNUGGS.
Updates to come.
XOX,
Christine
We are not suggesting a $200 donation, that is some dumb/greedy default in gofundme that I can't figure out how to change. Ugh.
p.s. - if we were to meet Emily's costs with this fundraiser - any reserve funds will be donated to a dog rescue to be determined by Emily and peewee. We will keep you posted.
