A Legacy of Compassion: Honoring Paula Hase-Mickelson
In July of 2023, we lost a beacon of light and love—Paula Hase-Mickelson. Paula’s journey was one marked by tireless dedication and unwavering compassion. For over 20 years, she touched countless lives as an ICU nurse at Gundersen Healthcare, her kindness and expertise bringing comfort in the darkest hours.
To those who had the privilege of knowing her, Paula was not just a nurse; she was a lifeline, a source of hope, and a model of grace. Her life was a testament to the power of selfless service, and her impact was immeasurable. Beyond her professional life, Paula was a devoted mother who raised two wonderful children, Brandon Lanahan and Jessica Crogan, single-handedly while pursuing her dream of becoming a registered nurse. She achieved this dream with immense perseverance, graduating from Viterbo University, a place that became a cornerstone of her legacy.
In honor of Paula’s extraordinary life and her boundless generosity, our family has decided to create a scholarship in her name. We are establishing the Paula Hase-Mickelson Single Mothers Nursing Scholarship at Viterbo University. This scholarship aims to support single mothers pursuing a nursing degree, just as Paula once did. It is our way of ensuring that Paula’s legacy of care and determination continues to inspire and uplift future generations.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 over the next five years to fully endow this scholarship. We believe that with your support, we can reach this goal and help many deserving women achieve their dreams in Paula’s honor.
In addition to this GoFundMe campaign, we are hosting a benefit event at the American Legion in West Salem, WI, on October 19th. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for more details on how you can be a part of this meaningful occasion. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring us closer to honoring Paula’s legacy and supporting those who need it most.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. Paula’s spirit lives on in every life she touched, and we are confident that she would be deeply proud of this effort to help others follow in her footsteps.
