I am asking for any help you can give to help support my friend Emma and her sweet Nuna in her fight for her life. Last May (2023) Nuna was quilled in her face and neck by a Porcupine during a casual hike in Anchorage. Unfortunately, porcupine quills can cause quite the issue if they are not fully removed due to the barbs that allow them to migrate silently through soft tissue. Nuna has been struggling with multiple unknown musculoskeletal issues over the past year and as of last week became paralyzed as it appears a quill is irritating and possibly harming her spinal cord. She is currently hospitalized and may require further surgery with an unknown future based on if her nerves can recover.
