We as a family are requesting contributions to help support Noelle Gomez on her road to recovery and healing. As you may remember, 6 years ago at the age of 30, Noelle faced a life changing health complication . What started as pneumonia quickly spiraled into complications that caused her to have a stroke and was in a coma for 3 weeks in the ICU at UMC with a ventilator on life support. During this tough time, we were grateful for all the love that everyone from family, relatives, friends and strangers had shown her through prayers, support and donations towards her medical expenses. God heard all our prayers and Noelle was able to wake up. Although, the trials did not end there. Noelle was wheelchair bound and diagnosed with diabetes and kidney failure which led to her needing dialysis for the rest of her life until she could be blessed with a new kidney. Fast forward to 6 years after this ordeal, on October 25, 2024, at the age of 36, Noelle finally received the call she was excited and nervous about. A call from UMC that morning stating they had found a match of a kidney for her. WOW! Just like that, all Noelle's hopes and dreams that she had for herself could become a reality again with a successful kidney transplant. That same evening, Noelle underwent the surgery of a lifetime and after long hours, Noelle awoke with a new kidney. Noelle was sought and cared for at UMC for a week and a half. She was then moved to an inpatient rehabilitation that focuses on intense therapy for 3 hours a day to help her get used to her new kidney. Noelle is scheduled to be discharged soon where she will be able to go home and settle in with her new kidney and new hopes and dreams.
During this time of healing, we ask for your sincerest contributions as for the next 4 months Noelle will have to take immune suppressant medication to allow for her kidney to settle into her body. Due to this, she will have to use private transportation services to bring her to and from the UMC Transplant unit where she will have to follow up on her progress for about 2 to 3 times a week. On top of that, she is still currently undergoing dialysis until her kidney can fully wake and function into her body. Her insurances and home health providers cannot supply her with a one on one ride to her appointments during this time frame. We are asking for any financial support you can contribute for her to continue to progress in her health and her road to healing and growing.
A message from Noelle: "I am asking everyone to continue to pray for me to gain my strength and for my kidney to fully wake up so I don't have to do anymore dialysis sessions. I have gone through a lot these last 6 years and I am grateful for my family and friends who have been there every step of the way. My next goal is to undergo intense physical therapy so I can walk again and not be wheelchair bound anymore. It has been a long journey and now with this blessing of a new kidney, I am looking forward to begin the next chapter of my life. With God by my side, I can do anything."
We as a family will keep the donations open for any medical expenses, PT/OT services, and transportation services. We appreciate any contribution you can make. Thank you for continuing to love and support Noelle on her road to recovery and healing.
