Hi! My name is Nikki! I’m 20 years old and I’ve been a medical anomaly for my entire life. I have severe eczema and atopic dermatitis that affects 100% of my body. I have been seen by some of the biggest medical institutions in the country, and no one has been able to figure out why my body systemically breaks down. I was misdiagnosed with an autoimmune disease for 10 years. This past year, my health has rapidly declined. I’ve lost independence. I can no longer work. I live in severe pain every day. I just want my life back. I want to be able to work and go to school. I want to be normal. Recently, I was accepted into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. With me not working, there is an immense financial strain on my family, being a one-income household with a lot of medical expenses. I’ve never asked for handouts ever in my life. I like working and being independent, but sometimes situations call for being vulnerable and accepting help. If you could and have the means to help, I’d be extremely grateful.
