Hello everyone,
We are reaching out with the hopes of sharing Niki Graziano Barry’s story. She is a mother of two who is currently undergoing treatment for adenoid cystic carcinoma.
On February 11th Niki was taken to the ER by her mother for a terrible headache and what was first thought to be a prolonged sinus infection was discovered to be Stage 4 cancer. What started in her salivary gland had moved up into her maxillary sinus cavity and back towards her brain stem destroying bone and soft tissue. This is an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer with a high likelihood of recurrence and spread as well as resistance to chemotherapy.
This news has taken Niki as well as those who love her by complete surprise. The only course of treatment is a grueling surgery that will take over 10 hours to complete. She will be going in to remove the tumor on March 3rd. Afterwards, she will spend 7-10 days in the hospital and then will be sent home with a feeding tube to recover with family. In the following 1 to 1 ½ months, she will begin 5 weeks of intense radiation therapy.
The entire process will be traumatic and painful for Niki as well as her two young daughters. As their household's sole provider, this experience is not only emotionally taxing but also financially. We ask you to please donate anything you can in support of Niki and her girls as every little bit counts. If you’re unable to contribute financially please consider sharing this to help spread the word. Your support means the world to Niki and her family while they progress through these harrowing times. Thank you all for your compassion and kindness and please keep Niki and get daughters in your thoughts and prayers.
