### **Help Nicole Fight Kidney Disease and Rebuild Her Life**

In January of 2023, my life changed overnight. One evening, I wasn’t feeling well — my heart was racing, and something just didn’t feel right. I called 911 and was taken to the emergency room, where I learned news that turned my world upside down: my kidneys were only functioning at 11%.

There was no need for emergency dialysis that night, but I was told to see a nephrologist immediately. When I did, I was diagnosed with **end-stage renal failure**. We quickly began discussing dialysis, and just a few months later, on **April 1st, 2023**, I had surgery to begin **peritoneal dialysis (PD)**. The very day before — March 31st — was my last day of work.

Since then, I’ve been at home managing dialysis and adjusting to life on disability. I’m now on **Medicare** and a **fixed income**, which is a huge change from the life I used to live. It’s been difficult not being able to work or support myself the way I once could, but I do my best to stay strong and keep faith that better days are coming.

I’m **currently on the kidney transplant list**, waiting and praying for a donor match. Until then — and even afterward — there are many expenses that continue to add up. This fundraiser will help me cover essential bills like **rent, food, transportation, and medical-related costs**, especially for the time after transplant when I’ll need to focus on recovery and frequent medical appointments.

I’m beyond grateful for my **amazing support system** — my sister(s), niece, cousin. brother, and life partner who help me with everything from doctor visits to emotional support. Their love keeps me going.

My goal is to raise **$10,000** to help ease the financial strain that comes with this long road to recovery.
