Donate to Nicole Reed's Recovery and Care

I’m writing this on behalf of my dear friend and colleague, Nicole Reed; a woman whose strength, kindness, and perseverance inspire everyone around her. Nicole is the kind of person who always puts others first, even when quietly enduring unimaginable challenges of her own.

For years, Nicole has worked not one, but two jobs while undergoing dialysis two to three times a week—a physically and emotionally demanding routine that begins at 3 a.m. so she can be at dialysis by 5 a.m., then still make it to work by 8 or 9 a.m. Despite the toll this has taken on her body, Nicole has never complained. She has remained dependable, hard-working, and deeply caring to everyone she serves.

Six years ago, Nicole had surgery on her foot that, unfortunately, did not go as planned. Since then, she has had to wear a medical boot permanently. Recently, she became very ill—spiking high fevers and unable to eat. What she thought was the flu turned out to be something far more serious: a severe and dangerous infection in the same foot that was operated on. Her doctors have since discovered that the screws from her original surgery are pushing their way out through her foot, causing immense pain and contributing to the infection.

On top of everything, Nicole is also battling a degenerative bone disease that is actively working against her and the surgeons trying to save her foot—and ultimately her leg. Complicating things further, she also lives with diabetes, which significantly affects her body’s ability to heal. These combined conditions put her at extreme risk, and her doctors have made it clear: she is back to square one, with a long and uncertain road ahead.

Nicole will undergo emergency surgery on June 28, 2025. More surgeries will follow. She will be unable to work for the foreseeable future and will not be allowed to put weight on her leg for a long time.

This news has left Nicole and her partner devastated. They rely on both of their incomes to survive, and now they will have to try to make ends meet with just one. In a place like California, where even two incomes barely stretch far enough, this change is heartbreaking and overwhelming.

I created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden during this painful and uncertain time. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Nicole’s financial institution to help cover rent, utilities, transportation, medical costs, and essential living expenses. Most importantly, it will give Nicole the space to focus on healing without the crushing weight of financial fear… and allow her partner to be by her side during surgery and recovery.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Nicole’s story. Kindness spreads, and Nicole has spent her life giving it to others. Now, she needs it in return.

From the bottom of our hearts– thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
